# Activity+ changelog

## 0.2.6 (2026-09-28)

See how fast your Mac is charging, and why it isn't.

**New**
- The Battery page shows the charging speed in watts and percent per hour, and when the battery will be full
- Power flow: what the adapter delivers, what the Mac itself uses, what goes into the battery, and what is lost converting the adapter's voltage
- Power adapter: its rating, the voltage and current it agreed on with the Mac, and every voltage a USB-C adapter offers
- This charge: percent and watt-hours gained, average and peak watts, and the charging curve
- Battery health in mAh (now, full, new) and charge cycles against the number the battery is rated for
- Why the battery is not charging: full, held at 80 % by Optimized Battery Charging, your charge limit, battery temperature, or an adapter that cannot keep up with the load. Reasons the battery controller reports without a documented meaning are shown as they are, not guessed
- When charging is slow because the Mac itself uses most of the adapter's power, the page says so
- Menu bar: a battery item can show watts while charging or discharging (+19 W) instead of the percentage. The panel shows the charging speed, the time to full and how much of the adapter is in use
- The history keeps the battery's and the adapter's watts per minute
- `aplus --json` and `aplus mcp` include the charging details, so an AI agent can answer "why is my Mac charging so slowly?"

Requires macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon. Notarized by Apple.

## 0.2.5 (2026-09-26)

Trace a spike back to the process behind it.

**New**
- The history now keeps the busiest child processes of each app (every 5 minutes), so a spike in "Terminal" shows it was `node vite` or `cargo build`. Point at the history chart to see who was busy at that moment, or expand an app in "Apps that used the most"
- Alerts name the process when an app has several: "Terminal is keeping the CPU busy … Mostly node vite (pid 4312)"
- Recording sessions show the main process of each app
- `aplus mcp`: the history tool lists the processes behind the top apps and answers "what was busy around 14:30?"

**Privacy**
Command lines are shortened to the program and its first arguments; anything that looks like a token, password, key or credential in a URL is blanked before it is stored. It stays on your Mac, like the rest of the history.

Requires macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon. Notarized by Apple.

## 0.2.4 (2026-09-26)

New measurements and a few conveniences, picked from what Mac users ask for most.

**New**
- **Recording sessions**: start a recording before a build, a render or a slowdown (in the window or from the menu bar), see CPU, memory and power over time with the top apps, compare two sessions, export CSV or JSON
- **Performance or efficiency cores** per app, with instructions per cycle, on the CPU page and in the process inspector
- **Neural Engine memory** per app on the Memory page, so Core ML and local models show up
- **Connection quality** (off until you turn it on): latency, jitter and packet loss to your router every 30 seconds, optional public host of your choice, outages in the history
- **Displays** on the GPU page: refresh rate, resolution, HDR, ProMotion, and a warning when a monitor runs below the rate it can do
- **Power adapter** on the Battery page, and an alert when the battery drains although the Mac is plugged in
- **Show Activity+ in the menu bar, the Dock or both**; a click on the Dock icon opens the window
- **Settings export and import** (Settings → General → Backup)

Requires macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon. Notarized by Apple.

## 0.2.3 (2026-09-25)

Safety and accuracy release, after an independent code review.

**Safer**
- Uninstall only ever touches folders directly inside your Library, and leaves folders that another installed app also uses
- Quit and Force Quit check that the process is still the one you saw, and only quit the copy of an app you picked
- "Stop idle dev servers" counts only the idle time Activity+ has actually watched
- Turning a startup item on now asks first, like turning it off; turning one off also works when it is not loaded right now
- Your public IP is looked up only at api.ipify.org, exactly as the privacy notes say

**More accurate**
- History totals weight each sample by the time it covers, and a sample right after sleep no longer counts the whole night
- Disk throughput is counted per drive, so drives that come and go cannot cause spikes
- The code signature check in the process inspector also verifies the program code
- Muting an app also covers audio processes it starts later (beta)
- History older than 30 days is removed daily, not only at launch

Requires macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon. Notarized by Apple.

## 0.2.0 (2026-09-25)

First public release.

**Highlights**
- Processes grouped by app, with per-app CPU, memory, GPU, disk, network and energy
- A menu bar you build yourself: any number of items, eleven styles, your colors
- "Why is my Mac slow?" in plain words, with a fix for each finding
- 30 days of history, alerts, unusual-activity and memory-leak detection, a weekly report
- Every drive with SMART/NVMe health, CPU and GPU clocks, GPU power, several hundred sensors
- Dev servers by project, connections per app, process inspector, sleep & battery drain
- Automations that ask before they act
- `aplus mcp` for AI agents (read-only)

Requires macOS 15 or later. Notarized by Apple. Tested on Apple silicon.

Beta: per-app volume, freeze detection, accessory batteries.
